How to get your Blog featured on the front page

When members post blogs on their "My Page", the VET PAO will review the material and select items to be featured on the front page.

Cropping photos for your profile & posts

If you do not have have Photoshop or another graphics editing program, the following information will get you going.
1. Download Adobe Photoshop Express for free (download), or Google's photo editing software, Picasa, for free (download).
2. Once Photoshop or Picasa is downloaded and installed (follow the instructions on the website), it will allow you to reduce and crop your photographs.

Hyperlinks in Blog, Forum or Comments

You can make the web links you include in your blog posts, forum posts, or comments look like this:

Here are the the steps:
1. Using your mouse, highlight the words you want to hyperlink FROM (like the How to get your blog featured) link above, they should be words within your text, the title of the article or page you're linking to, etc).
2. With that word or those words highlighted, click on the little link icon above the box you're typing into (it looks like a little piece of chain).
3. A new little box will open up (you may need to allow popups -- on a PC that means clicking on the little bar at the top of your internet browser). Paste or type your link (starting with http://) into the text box. Click OKAY and your link will be automatically coded.

When your post is done

When you "post" your blog, it will be announced in the activity log. You can continue to edit the post even after its up. With any luck, you'll see it featured on the front page. And/or I'll send you a private email with feedback. Thanks for contributing!
